Frequently Asked Dental Questions Gorham

We want our patients to have all the information they need to take great care of their family’s smiles, so below, our team has answered some of the most common questions we receive every day. If you have a question for us that hasn’t been covered here, be sure to give us a call and ask anytime!

How often should I go to the dentist?

Our team, along with the American Dental Association, recommends that patients of all ages should visit the dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. These appointments help us catch and treat minor issues before they can cause major problems, and they can also help prevent cavities and gum disease from developing in the first place!

My gums bleed every time I brush…should I be worried?

Have you just started flossing? If so, it’s normal for the gums to bleed a little bit for the first few days, and they should stop after that. If not, you may be brushing/flossing with too much force, so try cleaning your teeth with a lighter touch for about a week and see if this helps. If the bleeding persists, then you might have early-stage gum disease, in which case you should contact us to schedule an appointment right away. Treating this infection early is the best way to keep it from getting much worse!

How should I replace my missing teeth?

While this answer is different for every patient, our first recommendation to reverse tooth loss is usually dental implants. Why? In short, they are the most durable, reliable, and natural-looking tooth replacement available today. They are the only treatment that actually restores both the root and crown of a tooth, creating something that is the next best thing to nature. Even better, we can use them to bring back any number of teeth, and we’re one of the few offices in the area that can provide the entire procedure in-house!

Can you help with dental emergencies?

Yes! If you or a loved one are experiencing a lot of oral pain due to a broken/knocked-out tooth or severe toothache, go ahead and give Morgan-Hill Dental Care a call. We’ll work to see you as quickly as possible and can even schedule a same-day appointment if necessary. We’ll make sure you get out of pain and back to your life right away!

What should I do if I think I have a cavity?

If you’ve noticed some discoloration on one of your teeth, or if you’re feeling any dental pain, then you should give our office a call right away. Unlike other parts of your body, your teeth can’t heal themselves, so issues like this will only tend to get worse over time. Fortunately, we can easily repair cavities with either a tooth-colored filling or a custom-made crown.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

Yes, we are happy to file claims for all dental insurance plans and help patients maximize their benefits. How can we use your particular plan to help you save on your next visit? Give us a call to find out!

Is there a way to save on my dental care without insurance?

Yes! You can sign up for our DenVantage plan. For one low annual fee, you can cover your basic dental care for the year and receive sizeable discounts on all other services. It gives you the same benefits as traditional insurance but for a fraction of the cost, and you won’t have to deal with deductibles, monthly premiums, or annual maximums.
